Hello everybody! My name is Jacob and I'm hoping this might be a good place to find people who wish to have an honest dialogue, maybe make some connections, who knows? Most of my interest centers around character and arche, but I've been known to dabble. I look forward to having some discussion with you fine people, and thanks for reading.

Hi Jacob and WELCOME.

What is arche?

Want to tell us a bit about yourself so we can get to know you a bit better?

'Arche' as in the first principles of philosophy bit?

"In philosophy "first principles" are from first cause attitudes commonly referred to as a priori terms and arguments, which are contrasted to a posteriori terms, reasoning or arguments, in that the former are simply assumed and exist prior to the reasoning process and the latter are deduced or inferred after the initial reasoning process."

What's dangerous about the 'a priori' approach to substantive philosophy? I'll tell u. It permits apparant facts and truths that are derived, as facts and truths, from meaningless but logically valid statements. 'Time is the essence of being.' I could make this a true statement with sufficient supporting premises... and then the statement would appear profound, would appear to explain something about nature, etc.

I do however appreciate Aristole's teleology and what Kant was tryna do with the synthetic 'a priori' statements of truth such as those pertaining to causality. That's about as far as u can go with 'first principles'. Everything else is debatable unless it's empirical af. Even Spinoza's concept of Substance is sketchy becuz every time u show Spinz a subatomic particle and aks him if this is the Substance, he says no, it's a mode and modification of Substance. Finally you're like where's the fuckin substance, bro? Show me the substance!

My vote is: arche is a misspelling of a character's evolutionary arc towards turiya, but I haven't checked any outside sources for a definition of arche.

On first seeing the word arche, my speed reading picked up archie, which conjured up visions of Veronica, Betty, and Jughead. To answer the age-old question, Veronica was the favourite.

Another never-to-be-seen-again bot. I think perhaps the 'introduce yourself' page should be dismantled to avoid another site crash. Just a suggestion.
