The Olympic experience is not what it once was for us sports fans. First, since Russia is banned, the competition between us Americans and the Evil Commies no longer exists. Beating South Sudan just doesn't have the same thrill.

Second, now that the Olympics are professional the quality is better, but the originality is worse. Usain Bolt won all the sprints in three consecutive Olympics. In the past, athletes had one shot at it and then they had to get paying jobs (unless they were Godless Commies, in which case they were supported and medicated by their evil Marxist governments, unless they lost, in which case they were consigned to gulags).

Also, the proliferation of sports is ridiculous. Break dancing? Skateboarding? Trick bicycle riding? Judo? Tae Kwando? Does anyone else think that instead of medals, winning skateboarders should be given stickers they can affix to their boards?

Track and Field has always been the highlight of an Olympics. But these days -- with World Championships every two years -- the Olympics are only slightly bigger than the Worlds (held two years ago in my home town).

It's hard to drum up much patriotic fervor for the American teams these days. TV showss American fans endlessly chanting "U.S.A.! U.S.A.!" They appear to be thrilled to be on TV, or chanting at a Trump rally, ambitions with which I cannot identify. The U.S. basketball team has great players, all of whom will soon be collecting pensions, and none of whom shows the slightest interest in playing defense. Go Serbia! O Canada, glorious and free!

Pidcock's mountain bike victory was nice for you Brits, but Pogacar isn't even riding in the road race. He's saving his energy for the Worlds.

The main reason I'm watching is in the hope that one of the Chinese divers will do a belly flop, or at least make a slight splash when entering the water. I guess we can all be glad that Kim Jong Un has not entered the golf competition, since he supposedly once made 14 holes in one in one round of golf.

Of course, I'll continue to watch anyway.

I will say that sports where the Olympics isn't the most prestigious venue for world competition should be dropped from the Olympics. For example soccer should be dropped because the World Cup is international and bigger than the Olympics. Similarly tennis should be dropped as the grand slams are bigger than the Olympics. The NBA finals (and NHL finals) are bigger, BUT since those aren't between national teams, they can be kept. Surfing should be dropped, but judo should be kept.

My grief over the disinclusion of Ultimate Frisbee - which seemed to have already been included in 2028 - has left me inconsolable. I do support breakdancing and surfing.

Bloody farce of an 'Olympics' anyway. I hate boxing, but fast forwarded just enough to see some Algerian MAN winning his round in the WOMEN'S boxing (oh, what a surprise) and his FEMALE opponent abandoning it before the end in tears. These men have no shame at all. They regularly 'compete' against children in various sports for fuck sake. What is wrong with men? So it's applauded now when they publicly beat up women at the Olympics? The rabid misogyny is off the charts. There are several other obvious men in it as well as that cheating arsehole. There's no way I was going to watch a man beating up a woman. The replay showed the insanity and unfairness of it. Just his reach alone was so much longer than hers so she couldn't get near the prik.

Then there's the complete obnoxiousness and lack of sportsmanship of the Americans in the crowd at the female gymnastics. As Americans are ten times louder than anyone else on the planet the only cheering anyone can hear is for the American competitors. What the hell is wrong with them? Can't they find it in themselves to cheer for someone other than effing Americans? It's awful to see competitors being introduced to a practically silent stadium, and then a ROAR whenever it's an American. Beautiful routines from non Americans go barely acknowledged. And anyone would think Simone Biles was the only gymnast on the planet. Yes she can tumble and do difficult things, but her artistic expression is non existent. He style is just ugly. It's called ARTISTIC gymnastics for a reason. It's supposed to be beautiful as well as skillful. The Russians are miles ahead of the Americans in artistic expression, but of course they aren't there, at the 'Olympics of hypocrisy.'

The only risk with this strategy is that if u don't knock em out eventually, he may win by TKO if he's scored more points during the first four or five. But Ali planned the whole thing.
