Is food a art?

I don't know why you haven't gotten any replies yet, but I'll take a stab at it. An art is like a craft, skill, or trade, right? It's something you exercise and practice in order to get better at the particular art, in this case cooking. The word art comes from a sense of "fitting together", and that's helpful because it gives us insight into the at-one-ment involved in cooking. For instance, when you're in the kitchen your goal is to take a variety of food and combine them into one meal. When done properly, the meal is perfectly balanced, it's excellent, healthy, tasty, and perhaps even beautiful. So, with that reasoning in mind, I would propose food is an art if what is meant by food is cooking a meal. Take care.
