I'm reading Political Philosphy in China, I do support socialism, however I'm skeptical of Marxism.

I think there are many different ideas that come out of the overall label "socialism". I understand the fundamental definition of "socialism" as distinct from "individualism". I think that's where the fundamental tension exists for "socialism". It exists between respecting the welfare of all at the same time as respecting the liberty of each. There's a tension somewhere in there. At least that's my "liberal" interpretation of "socialism".

Followers of Marx did some terrible things. To me, that points to problems.

None at this moment.

And tell Jinping i said he sucks at being a Marxist and that he's a total poser.

Who are you referring to? Whose "social credit score" is going to take a "nosedive"?

If that dude is in China, and anybody here mentions a certain location that has 4 sides of equal length where, some time around 35 years ago, a bloke with a shopping bag stood in front of some rolling military hardware before meeting a grim end.... certain tools we might refer to as a great firewall are liable to pick up that reference and associate it with our friend causing his internet usage to come under comradely scrutiny.

If you ever find yourself being targetted by a Chinese scammer, you only need to respond to them with the date of that event and they will go silent.

Pretty sure somebody will mention it by name very soon. Although this thread is really old and the guy only made one post, so it's neither here nor there really.

What do you think is characteristic of Marxism that socialism is not that makes you skeptical?
