Knowledge: Curse or Gift

Knowledge, is something most people strive to achieve and grow within. Though countless occasions it has seemed in history that too much knowledge is dangerous or possibly even fatal to our fragile human minds.
For those who have tripped acid in high quantities and had the: what I like to call the: "cosmic washing machine" experience, you seem to understand a concept that there lays something right at the edge of our physical grasp of what we know. This for some, releases this urge within to find out just what lies just beyond our reach or the latter: to simply except it and throw away the notion something more than themselves stands above all.
This urge those feel including me experience is adjacent to a kind of lust for understandement and search for a power not to have for our own to control but to be around almost, to be apart of, to be close to. For if I am in its presence then it knows me, and I know it.
But few have this willingness to not be consumed by such desires and possessions. Some men strive for the taste of everything and fall consumed to their own temptations.
Is this what God spoke of?
Ecclesiastes 1:18 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow, and as knowledge grows, grief increases.
The question stands...Can we survive the answers to all that is?
