The argument to design, in the form of the fine-tuning argument, is probably the second most popular argument for God's existence. It states that the universe has been dealt a "winning hand" by having its parameters be just right to be able to support life -- specifically, our kind of life. Like the Kalam, it appeals to intuition and emotion in an attempt to make atheism look unreasonable.

But there are problems. What's so special about a universe with humans it it that it calls for an explanation other than random chance? How does the apologist know that chance would even be involved, that such a universe isn't metaphysically necessary? How does he know the universe has one "fine-tuner" instead of many? In exploring these problems and others, we'll discover why the argument is utterly unconvincing.

Well, that video started with a strawman. Very few of the fine-tuning people talk about 1" in relation to the sun. And NONE of the scientists who believe in a Fine-tuned universe do.

So, how does the video start. It focuses on what one theist brought up which was actually a confused conclusion about fine tuning. Physicists on the other hand have a dozen examples where very tiny changes in contants and laws would have made life impossible anywhere in the universe. Admittedly those physicists are talked about a Fine Tuned universe but the argument is similar, but in this case made by experts who know their shit. The video maker and ex-Christian and philosophy enthusiast, but not really an expert of any kind, which is obvious, is actually not making that good a case. But VA grabs it.

Like, any serious philosophy has to acknowledge the fine-tuning problem. A world inhabited by intelligent beings is improbable far beyond any human comprehension.

fine-tuning sounds like a penalty for being off key...

It's not so much illogical - that over used and mis used word..

It is not relevant or significant since it (the fine tuning) is just a circular argument.
