The rule of thumb: You have all rights when it comes to you but you have no right to decide about others. All interpersonal conflicts are due to not respecting the rule of thumb.
For the discussion of all things philosophical.

Thanks for your support.
When indisputable fact is laid out, it ought be acknowledged and credit given.
It is what it is.You have all rights when it comes to you but you have no right to decide about others.
...is a clean and factual assessment....can't do no better than that. All interpersonal conflicts are due to not respecting the rule of thumb.
it never was
Why not?
Do you BELIEVE you have ALL 'rights' to do what you want to do?
So, if you want to breed children do you REALLY believe or accept that you have absolutely NO 'rights' when deciding about them?
Most interpersonal conflicts are just due to NOT understanding one another properly and correctly.
Cuz you never know what nutjob is behind the wheel. You might hitch 99 times and never have a problem. The 100th time: you end up as maggot chow in a gulley. Why not?
Societal roles give others de facto rights over you. Cops, judges, teachers, DMV clerks, TSA agents, politicians and other government agents, executioners, all have the right granted by society to not only make decisions about you, but to act on those decisions. If you raise a stink and start hollering about your rights, then you need more juice than just truth. This is why folks immediately quick-draw their handy, pocket video cameras.

The same could be said for going to school, to work, to the pub, or to church. You NEVER know who was/is going to be there, correct?henry quirk wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 5:44 amCuz you never know what nutjob is behind the wheel. You might hitch 99 times and never have a problem. What happens when you STEAL "another's" property "henry quirk"? Do "others" have a 'right' to SHOOT you DEAD also?henry quirk wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 2:14 pmThe job, then, is gettin' the members of society to relinquish that right, to disavow it...of course, they'll never do that...the fatal tendency is exploited by the finer clay, always...so, if folks won't give up the right to give grief to the other guy, what's the other guy to do?all have the right granted by society
High-diddly-dee, a scofflaw's life for me...

You might do these things 99 times, ALSO, and never have a problem. But the 100th time, you end up as maggot chow in a gully, AS WELL.
Or, are these somehow DIFFERENT?
If I were dumb enough, greedy enough, or crazy enough to attempt to rob the other guy, then -- yeah -- I ought to expect to get shot. What happens when you STEAL "another's" property "henry quirk"? Do "others" have a 'right' to SHOOT you DEAD also?
