It's theoretically possible. Chinese hackers could breach the store's security, hijack the store's audio and speaker system, and force it to play Neil Diamond songs as the patrons did their shopping. The resulting influx of emotional behavior caused by such psychotronic manipulation could be controlled; to produce melancholy and sadness, 'if I couldn't see you again' would be played. To produce joy and excitement, 'america' or 'sweet caroline' would be played.
