That is a bit of a freak out. It's the contrast of horror and silly, like the contrast of group compliance and violence, such as in
Squid Games.

It’s a clip from Legend that shows dinner at the devil’s house. The devil is doing his best to further charm Lil, as if that dress wasn't enough.
His voice is reasonable, calm, soothing … until she refuses one of his offers.
Then for an instant he loses control and his voice explodes with a shout like thunder that shakes the mountain. Rocks crumble from the walls. Lil isn't charmed. She is frightened but not cowed. The devil tries to gloss over his slip-up with more charm, even with a bit of philosophy about how he influences mankind. But his smoothness is as abrupt as his anger, and only confirms his false charm.

Taunting before killing appears to be a time-tested sadistic method. Scientists say that the predator animals do it because adrenaline tenderizes the prey’s raw, living flesh into a tastier meal.
Why do humans taunt and terrorize a victim before killing? Why that urge that reaches all the way back to the caves? Why did the Roman guards psychologically taunt Christ?
It’s probably a statement of total dominance when killing just isn’t enough to convey the totality of the intent that causes the killing.
