the human scale

Economics of scale are absurd. We must keep our understanding of economics and politics within reach of understanding for a typical citizen. The exponential growth rate in whatever doesn't mean shit relative to how hard it is to rise in society. We need our benchmarks to be human-scale, and human-shaped to boot. Someone "earning" 100 billion dollars while someone else is broke proves you're dealing with imaginary numbers. We cannot afford to hold imaginary valuations because it leads to imaginary values. Economics is only useful to the extent it helps us understand and manipulate our world toward positive ends. That requires than an ordinary person be capable of understanding what the holy fuck is going on. N'est-ce pas?

A conservative manifesto: If that means sacrificing certain technologies for the moment, so be it. We are not ready to reach the stars, we can't even clean our room.
