The West coast fires in the US are astonishing and unprecedented. Comparisons are being made with Dresden and Hiroshima due the intensity of the fires and their unusual behaviour. If you need any more evidence of Mankind's stupidity here's some. The first article is long but by half-way you'll have got the message. The second is shorter and even more terrifying. I wonder how long it will be before the state of California sues the Federal Govt. for billions of dollars in compensation.

Maybe. But I suspect it wouldn't have made a great difference given the fierceness of the fires. This is not a normal situation.

Global warming, California has been becoming a desert since the 70's.
