This new (and hopefully temporary) forum area is for any and all discussions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any suggestions as to how philosophy might be able to help us understand or combat the pandemic, or at least survive it with our sanity intact, will be very welcome.

Any recommendations of existing philosophical writings that might be relevant to the current crisis also extremely welcome. (eg Albert Camus' novel "The Plague")

Conspiracy theories involving mobile phone masts or shape-shifting aliens not so welcome and may be deleted to keep the quality high. No doubt there are plenty of existing forums out there for that kind of discussion.

As you can see from the original post above, this forum section on Coronavirus was only ever meant to be temporary. It was mostly active in the height of the pandemioc, in 2020-21. Now in 2026 it looks a little odd to have a whole section dedicated toit on a philosophy forum. Therefore I'm thinking that I will take it down in a few days. Before doing so, I will take a look through it and transfer the most interesting, most philosophical threads to other areas of the forum, such as General Philosophical Discussion, Ethical Theory or Political Philosophy.
