The simple suggestion as suggested by Karl Kraus: “The secret of the demagogue is to make himself as stupid as his audience so they believe they are clever as he.”
However, the honest alternative is very dangerous and if too realistic leads to drinking the hemlock. Appealing to pride and vanity and public acceptance will be assured.
