Can a hotdog ever be a sandwich?

Sandwiches are well known to be comprised of a filling between two slices of bread. But a hotdog is a filling between two ends of a bifurcated single bread. Is it morally permissable to cut that bun and hold the hotdog sideways like a sandwich?

The distinction between bifurcation and slicing is an issue that has been neglected by philosophers since antiquity; to their shame and our loss. But I am disgusted by your suggestion that hotdogs could be held sideways "like a sandwich'. Have you no shame?
