Veganism
It is almost certain that the judgement on veganism as a ‘religion’ is going to be misconstrued and misused by popular and tendentious opinion. Veganism is not justified and protected because it is a religion, but because it is seen as an acceptable philosophy to democracy, as defined by a [dubious] accumulation of law.
There are many who will latch on to this in order to justify any and all madcap beliefs. It is the very least to be expected that a philosophy accepts our present law on human rights.
Beyond that is the question of whether we are moving away from a positive view of society to a negative view of society as a mere assemblage of people doing their own thing. At the worst a chaotic assemblage of pop-groups with no real cohesion, or unified vision, that can only bring the world down.
Veganism may prove to be the essential way for society to go, and that is a social decision – not an interminable wait for all people to agree.
But if the law protects altruist democracy, then it must not protect bigoted and irrational belief under the label of either philosophy or religion. Altruist and Anarchist societies are at end poles of liberty. Anarchism and Tyranny are at end poles of egoism. Tyranny and Altruist democracy are at end poles of responsibility. Amongst other sets of values that may be employed in that way.
