What rule of thumb do you live by?

There are many rules of thumb. One example is where for every ten miles per hour you drive, you keep one car length ahead of you (there's more to this).

So what rule of thumb is your favorite?

The more confident someone sounds, the less certain they really are.

Even if a katana is thicker than my thumb, I'm going to try to break it over the other guy's back.

Concur. True strength is to dare doubt yourself (not to be confused with a low selfesteem!).

My rule of thumb is to never get cocky and never stop searching.

Assume innocence in those you meet.

1. Never stick anything up my poopshute that is thicker than my thumb.

2. If your nose is less than a thumb's length away from mine, AND you are a rattlesnake, you're too close for comfort.

3. Always oppose a finger.

4. Stop chasing women when your pride and joy can't get bigger than the size and shape of your thumb.

I try to keep this in mind in my dealings with others.

Seeing the naive, yet sly and manipulative, ape that underlies each human makes them more understandable and likeable.

Interesting, Doc. How is this in line with your politics? Specifically, DACA.

I have been reading the bible (kjv) everyday to my bedridden, Mother. I must admit I loved Matthew but I noticed the bible repeats itself over and over in different ways...but always the same kind sentiment.

It's very hard for me to understand how one can interpret the bible any other way than we should show kindness to all. Not that i think you go against this, just that i feel it's part of the republican mantra as a whole to say, "every man for himself" as opposed to the democratic thought, " one for all and all for one."

And yes, I know there are good and bad in both parties...i am just going off of the overall tone of each party. They don't call us bleeding heart liberals for nothing...lol.
