The author states: "One of the more arresting claims Aristotle makes in his famous exploration of friendship in the Nicomachean Ethics is that you can’t be friends with god. ". Of course you can't be friends with god!! Anymore than you can't be friends with Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy.

Friendship is for mutual benefit.
