After two years of intense research into this "option of reality", I have found some key components, that seem to matter more than all others:


Consciousness

Consciousness seems to be the alpha and omega of it all.
Consciousness seems to solve the Collapse of the Wave Function & Non-locality. Without the one, the others do not exist.

So, the universe before humanity's arival becomes a mystery without consciousness, or what?
No. Not if the makers/engineers were the observers prior to us.
The fact that there is a wave function at all, shows that there is no God watching. Only faulty creatures who can't get it all. With an omnipotent allkwowing God - no waves, only matter! With waves, the option of random unnoticed data.


Lack of interference / help

Does that mean they don't care? Or cannot interact? Not necessarily!

Let's imagine a global interactive computergame, where you can pick a character. You cannot control the character, but you can send thoughts, innuendos and make little things happen, to steer the character towards your objective. The character can choose to ignore it though.

You can also buy the premium membership. Here you can tease the characters with mysterious flying objects, "deads" visiting, possesions and other fun stuff.


10 dimensions minimum, maybe 26!

They see all the way through us. String theory suggests up to 26 dimensions, and it's all displayed holographicly. Not a single atom in your body is invisbly to them!


Malicious intention or behavior

I used to blame them for war, but I'm not so sure anymore.
To be determined.


Love

It seems they care about that alot. As a science nerd it seems irrelevant to me.


Hacking the matrix

If you focus on something negative, you get that.
If you focus on something positive, you get that.
If you just focus, you get want you want.


Hubris

You gotta really be very sure, and have all your facts straight and have a plan and be rehearsed before you attempt being the master of destiny. They love bringing ignorant fools down.


Explore and exploit

They want you to explore and exploit your life to the limit, but not beyond. Be sensible, not stupid. If you die, they have to find a new character. Maybe they have to pay. Who knows?

The bridge our characters can use to climb from their roles into the soul of the machine and demystify their own existence is via music. "Music is the language that another word speaks to us, which comprehends us, but we can't comprehend it."

Once we demystify the machine, then we have two courses of action: either reprogram it to make this a better world, or else hack at it angrily and swashbuckle it, in which case we plant the seeds of unwanted effects, which may be beautiful, but highly fattening.

Does being simulated give you some kind of sense of purpose? Like someone was watching over you, even if in a rather perverse way?

No, not at all. I just find the idea fascinating.
And I am well aware that it could be false and a waste of time. But it's a very entertaining waste of time
