Ah! Some very good points are being made in this thread!

Actually, just the opposite...I was hoping for some practical applications delivered by the reflective active membership here at The PhilosophyNow Forums.
What I provided was the the symbolic and philosophical aspect of walls. Don't forget ffs, this is a philosophy forum!

Walls are typically for feeling safe, yes? (I'm guessing that's the kind you're speaking of, as opposed to walls that support roofs.)
But walls obstruct views and access, yes?
It seems logical that broader views and unhindered access would expand understanding, thereby possibly vanquishing many fears that erected the walls in the first place.
So what is the payoff for keeping the walls? Familiarity? Control? At what cost?
