In the US, it would be Halloween. Eggs getting thrown around, getting sprayed with shaving cream and toilet paper getting spread around. However they do collect for UNICEF.

From a quick study, I see no indication that businesses close up for Halloween. I see indication to the contrary that more business is done on Halloween.

I doubt if the Celts 'attended halloween costume parties'. Or wore superhero suits.

I'm not sure what you mean by the word "holiday". In the context you are using it and in the UK, holiday would mean a day off work. So, do you get a "holiday" from work for halloween?

Being that this is the trend now in the US, a holiday is a celebration of tradition (for your country you'll have to tell me what is a holiday).
