I found this article very disappointing. It's based on a thought experiment about in impossible brain surgery; and talks about the outcomes which are naturally unknowable.
It uses this to talk about a completely different type of identity question; that of David Bowie's dramatic creation of his on stage characters.

Duh, oh so very duh

Most singers create a persona that they channel themselves through in order to be able to perform on stage.. like what pornstars do, but that's a different kind of performance.

I guess to remain successful Bowie had to reinvent himself over the decades.. that, or it was a game that he simply just liked to play.
