white pawn to e 4. (The k is because of king, the p is pawn)duszek wrote:Can someone translate into the normal chess coordinates ?
Doc, do you have a traditional board ? If so, why can't you add the letter and number coordinates alongside?thedoc wrote:Yes that is correct, the white Pawn to the 4th square in front of the white king.
It's descriptive notation, and it's normal to me, the question is what is normal to you?

Translating the notation will add time to the moves, and could lead to mistakes.
I've dusted down an old chess 'table' and brought pieces out. Will follow your moves and explanations with increasing excitement, I'm sure !!!duszek wrote:1. e2 - e4

I couldn´t have moved the urchin on d7 two spaces because then he would have been taken free of charge. It´s important to place one´s forces in the center.
Oh My! Another S H fan. Have you ever seen Tom Baker as Sherlock Holmes in "The Hound of the Baskervilles? Baker was excellent but the rest of the cast wasn't very good. Sometimes they looked and sounded like they were reading their lines from cue cards.marjoram_blues wrote: The game is afoot !

Lebron James vs me in basketball would be pretty boring. The explanations can be "the rook is better than the bishop" or "this is the best move against the silician operture"marjoram_blues wrote:And this is important, why?TSBU wrote:I think this is going to be quick.
