Ouzo, the Ultimate Game

I don't get it. In the beginning, I sent out maybe a dozen letters to liquor companies describing a new format for liar's poker in the form of a deck of cards with their advertising on the back. The Brown-Forman Company bought 3,000 decks to promote Old Forester whiskey. They didn't reorder because they thought it might hurt sales in the U.S. bible belt. I then sent out another dozen letters to liquor companies, changing the name of the game from liar's poker to the name of their brand. Fleischmann Distillers, importer of ouzo by Metaxa, wrote back, "I am very interested in your idea, call me!" but it turned out Fleischmann couldn't accept outside marketing ideas. Now that I have a new format and rules, a fancy announcement in the International Beverage Network, plus literally hundreds of emails and letters sent to beer companies and ouzo manufacturers around the world, I have yet to receive a single reply expressing any interest at all. I know "The Ouzo Prophecy" says, "The Ouzo Game Company will sell no game before its time," but Jesus Christ, I didn't think it was going to be another two thousand years!

The total lack of response suggests either divine intervention or satanic attack.

Or everyone has deposited the letter with all the other junk mail from the lunatic fringe.

Are you saying someone bought 3000 decks of cards off you?

How do you explain the early interest leading up to "The Ouzo Prophecy," based on just a handful of letters?

Yeah, and it was so easy, just a typed letter from a guy in Cincinnati with a promotional idea.

Forgive my scepticism.

It doesn't seem possible that I could suddenly hit a brick wall. It's not like Ouzo is some new idea, but it is a significant improvement of a popular bar game.

You achieved your last success with a typewriter. It may be time for you to move on.

Temporary insanity.

True, but I do not think it was temporary.

Bill's, or the early interest?

Bob?

There was no early interest. There was no real interest at all.
Bob is just crazy.

Bob. You're right, since they are both crazy, I get them confused sometimes.
