I agree, this is becoming a problem. For example, the incorrect usage of words such as 'tarry' and selectively choosing parts of wiki to support one's words.
I think you meant "tardy" as in 'a tardy entrance or introduction...' [FTFY UFI]

So it was the words around it that were erroneous.
"Made a tarry into the great unknown" implies going somewhere while not moving.
