That's a whole lot of talking about light and a whole lot of ignoring of the rest of the EM spectrum that we can't see (without technological help). What about subatomic particles that are much smaller than photons, and therefore cannot be illuminated?

I think studying some science would deepen the sense of understanding you are seeking.

I was feeling similarly, Alfie. If the idea can't be understood by the mind then it can't be expressed with words, in which case it appears that Dontaskme is just telling us to quieten our minds and meditate.

Alas, DAM, everyone has already considered meditating, tried it and didn't like it, or is currently practising. Personally, it bores me. Every now and then I do a mini-meditation, maybe a minute or two as a break from all the mental chatter. That's nice.

Yes, the flow of life is too fast for us to entirely comprehend, hence our sketchy physical models, and yes, the deep absorption of a quiet Zen state is both enjoyable and helpful, and yes, sometimes we can instinctively intuit that which is too complex to adequately think about. All old news. It should be said that we are also capable of instinctive intuition that gets things entirely wrong, eg. flat Earth.

No, Greta, meditation doesn't suit me either. I've also tried it and it just makes me agitated, I can't keep still doing and thinking about nothing.

Doesn't matter. It's still possible to quieten you mind, to be less mentally active, slowing the rate of thoughts that you notice.

I know the "we don't exist" claim that you make well, as I was a fan of Buddhism and the occult in my 20s. Today, as far as I'm concerned, everything that is verified, or that I observe, exists. The nature of that existence is up for grabs, sure, but the ontological truth that we exist is not logically disputable IMO. I see that approach as smoke and mirrors, just mystics' and philosophers' tricks, eg. Dan Dennett denying consciousness. To me it's akin to saying, "If you turn this way and squint like this, then the vase disappears!". Trouble is, in all other circumstances, the "vase" exists.

I'd rather admit consciousness's existence and to try to better understand it than to degrade and deny it, but that's just me.

This is not about degrading or denying anything. Life is awesomely beautiful and magical beyond belief.
An illusion is easy to comprehend as experienced, seen...think rainbows and lightning bolts. That which is illusory does not mean it does not exist. Illusory indicates that a play of light and sound reflects a deception, which the mind is manifested to believe as reality.

There is talk about consciousness, but no one knows what consciousness is, but that's okay since that is the only reality available.
Every atom is light and science knows that it is light. Some know, but science still defines energy as the capacity to do work. Science does not define that energy is light. It is obvious that light present in every atom of the human breath has transformed into sound. Just as lightning in the sky transforms into thunder. Science still does not know how lightning is formed. Lightning too is just electricity which is light. Every speck of life is electricity.
