What is the Purpose of Life?

Life escapes us, we don’t realize that life just zooms by and we live without purpose. We don’t even know what life is all about. We are born, we grow up, we educate our self, we take up a profession, occupation, we earn, we build a family and soon it’s time to go; we die, we pack up and we move on from planet earth. So, is this the purpose of life? Are we born just for the sake of consuming life or were we given life for a purpose? Why were we born? Do we have time to introspect, to contemplate, to ask this question? Was life just given to us to consume the days, the weeks, the months, the years? At the end of it what happened?

People don’t even bother to think; they don’t even want to know. To them life is a joy ride and all that matters is that they are having fun, enjoying this journey; they don’t want to ask this question as what will happen after life. Where did they come from? Where do they go? What is the purpose of life? Who is God? Where is God? All these are boring, irrelevant questions, but the fact remains that there is a purpose of life, and this purpose shouldn’t be told to us by others, we should discover this purpose. Truthfully, we can’t even discover it; we have to realize it and we will realize the purpose of life when we keep our real eyes open. Then only we will realize the supreme truth that there is a purpose of life. The challenge for us is to discover that purpose.

The 'purpose' presents itself every day you wake up. It may seem like a mundane purpose knowing the routine but it's a purpose nonetheless, one every living creature is acquainted with. If you require an 'added value' one, you must devise it yourself since there is nothing that can be extraneously discovered regarding it. It's like asking 'is there a god'. Whether yea or nay it changes nothing as far as your life is concerned.

One would think that after all the years Homo Sapiens walked the planet that there would be a resolution if there actually ever was one but it turns out there is neither light nor darkness or any echo of a response. There is only Nothing which we ceaselessly attempt to invert into some kind of meaning. All other compatriot creatures, those we haven't exterminated, don't require that. They simply are until they are no longer. Perhaps the real purpose for us should be one of emulation which isn't racked by existential hangups and simply live the life we're given to the best of our ability.

The problem of Purpose is only a temporary one at best and for the duration subject to negotiation with oneself.

Small p's and big P's. I agree the big P is discussed at length particularly in religious forums. And such contemplations are only temporary. The little p's are particularly pleasant to ponder and still only temporary. I like your 'for the duration subject to negotiation with oneself'.

Not to mention the little l's and the BIG 'ELL !

I also like your 'The little p's are particularly pleasant to ponder' because it conveys a variety which is real compared to the boringly monolithic big P. I prefer not to live under the shadow of something so enlightened to be honest. It may erode any perspective I have on Free Will!

You've gotta be joking! XXXX is only for unwashed Queenslanders, who have to call it that because they're too stupid to know how to spell beer. We of the brewed ale illuminati prefer the nectar of the gods known as Boag's Premium. Failing that I agree with you about the Stella Artois because I used to travel a lot and every airport in the world stocks it.
