There's a "new" theory on how mankind came to be (but not new to me). It's claimed that the dinosaurs had to go extinct for mankind to evolve, which I don't buy. This scientist is saying that dark matter led to the rise of mankind, a wrinkle which currently isn't testable (and even if it were, so what?)
Do you buy this theory?:

They didn't all go extinct either. Many of the smaller ones evolved into birds.

I don't know if evolving is classed as extinction, but they didn't go extinct in the same event that killed off the large dinosaurs.

There is nothing in this theory that one could claim as an impossibility...from what I've read. As for every theory, it remains to be seen. Maybe I missed something, but from what is written there is no mention that dinosaurs had to go extinct for the likes of us to exist...even though that may be true but who knows with any reasonable amount of certainty? No matter how long we exist certain events are doomed to remain speculative.
It doesn't seem to be an overt speculation on the part of LR her emphasis being the possible collusion of dark matter on their near extinction. I haven't read the book but I do have a few of hers including Warped Passages. She always seemed to me straight forward not particularly in favor of advanced metaphysical theories without severely questioning it herself. From what I know I would not discount her views on the matter.
