How did the universe arise out of nothing?

That's the question that the Canadian team claims to have answered. Part of their answer depends on double special relativity and virtual particles. I think a peer review is needed for this:

This has been the accepted view amongst Lawrence Krauss and others for some time.
The article's author seems to be suggesting that mathematics are embedded in the sea of virtual particles, and then governed the inflation of a particular virtual particle into the known universe. Seems pretty formative.

In a dilating universe a "minimum length scale in nature" must be a relative scale in sync with the present. Mass is the past.

What makes you think there won't be one? Although by and large these newspaper articles are just dead news time fillers or even worse just churnalists trying to fill the gaping maw of electronic news space. As I doubt any physicist or cosmologist will think anything proved until someone ones up with an experiment to disprove it.
