Benjamin Franklin has these two:

1) "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."

2) "Some people are weatherwise, others are otherwise."

Thomas Edison has this explanation of genius which has some truth to it:

"Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."

Hell, you don't even need to be famous to have people hang on every stupid utterance you can muster. Just get some letters behind your name and suddenly you only speak truth and you'll be quoted far and wide. Most people are confused by facts and logic anyway so they need lettered people to tell them what to think.
