Hey Leo, what do you think about Tony Abbott?

From what I've been reading, it sounds as if he's holding back progress on renewable energy and he's not too popular in Australia at the moment.

And yet half the country voted his party to government and almost half still would vote LNP. Can't be THAT bad eh?

I don't reckon it makes any difference which of the two major political parties wins government in this country, Graeme, and it certainly doesn't make any difference how popular either of them is. Democracy is government by the ignorant and we always manage to get the government we deserve.

I've heard it argued on this basis that people don't know how to govern themselves so why bother with democratic rule?

I agree with Winston Churchill who said that democracy is an appalling system of government and only slightly better than any of its alternatives.
