If you applied for the position of God, what would be in your resume and cover letter?

I could look over your resume and give you an opinion as to your suitability for the position.

There's plenty here who could do that. I wasn't thinking of applying, to be honest, but thanks for the offer.

I can certainly sympathize with you on that, too much responsibility, the position of devil would suit me better. One thing that most people don't seem to think about, is that the Devil would know for sure whether God exists or not.

No one applies for the job...you just take it, kill your competitors and do god shit (smiting and blessing and world building and whatnot).

So: as in all things, it is the superior (or more wisely applied inferior) 'might' that gets to be the Big Banana.

But would he admit it? I always thought it was odd that we are supposed to be afraid of ghosts. Surely they would be confirmation of a spirit world.

Sorry, yes; I forgot her.

Read the book of Job, or at least the first part. Satan is walking around in Heaven casually talking to God when God advises Satan to consider his faithful servant Job. They get into a "Beer Bet" as to when Job would denounce God. I would think that if Satan was talking to God, he would have to acknowledge God's existence.

Fair enough. I was imagining a scene in which I ran into the devil and said: "Hello, Beelzebub. So: does god exist?" And him, being the devil and that, so not above telling porkies*, saying, "No."

*For the benefit of anyone unfamiliar with Cockney Rhyming Slang, that's pork pies=lies.

Well, Satan could be lying, or he could be trying to make you think for yourself, rather than giving you a pat answer. I'm not sure I believe all the propaganda about Lucifer being driven out of heaven, or was he sent by God to tempt and test people? I also entertain the same idea about Judas, did he betray Jesus, or was he assigned his task by Jesus?

Could be. I'm not really the person to ask. Do you have a view on this ReliStuPhD?

There are several theories on the Devil. There are possible multiple devils.

Red Devil - The Devil is reputed to be a red creature with a pointed tail and two horns, most often carrying a three pronged fork. Is this a mythological creature, or does it have a basis in reality, and if so, how did it come to be associated with evil? In fact, the Devil is not far in description from a real creature, who lives and breaths today, albeit not on Earth. This creature visited Earth in the past, and, to say the least, made an impression. Why the three pronged fork, and does the number 3 have a significance? It does indeed.

The Devil of lore is a fairly accurate picture of an extraterrestrial who visited Earth millennia ago, briefly. This visit preceded the time when the Bible was to be written, and thus the memories of this entity were fresh and strong. This was a 4th Density entity, who came alone except for his entourage, in answer to The Call from a group of humans strongly oriented toward Service-to-Self. This call was given in mid Africa, but once called this entity roamed about a bit, answering The Call from others in the vicinity. He is indeed red, all over, and to humans in close contact he would seem to exude heat. Thus he was associated with the concept of fire, as one who could live comfortably within fire. His personality, to those in contact with him, seemed fiery also, given to flashes of temper and severe punishments - the Devil.

This entity came to Earth with an entourage, a threesome, who carried pointed sticks used for communications. They stood at attention, to the rear or side of their master, as the Service-to-Self orientation requires a strict pecking order. Their sticks were all in a row, pointed upward. Humans saw this as a threat, as weapons that could be pointed toward them or used to prod them. Thus the 3 pronged pointed fork.

Islamic Devil - An angel who became top of the angels due to his devotion to God. Then God created man, and ordered him to bow down to Man. Due to pride and his own ego, he refused. For this minor deed God created Hell and sent him to earth as punishment so he could drag others to hell along with him. Kind and loving God? Hardly.

Garden of Eden Devil - Referred to as a "serpent", Christians widely refer to this devil as the same entity as the Islamic Devil and the Red Devil, but is it? The story represents the black serpent inside us all. It is the black serpent of ego...Whenever someone hurts you, this black serpent enters you, and causes you to do bad things. For attuned minds, when it enters it can be heard like the reverse whisperhowl of a demon or ghost.

Lucifer, the Angel of Light Devil - Based on a Bible Story, the word Lucifer was used as a name to call a foolish king. This was not his real name, but a mockery used at the time, a sarcastic phrase like "Great one." In the Bible there is no story about a fallen angel named Lucifer who is the most beautiful.

The Devil's Number, 666 - This is not the number of the Devil, but the Bible says it is the number of the Beast. Then the Bible says the number of the Beast is the number of Man. Therefore, Man is the Beast, 666 is the number of Man.

The Antichrist - Many Christians like to say the Antichrist is the Devil, but Bible says otherwise.

The Joker - Many say that the Joker represents the Devil. If Batman represents God, then Joker represents Devil. This is because the Joker tries to enlighten the city with knowledge of how their lives are meaningless, and how laughter and happiness is just as awful as suffering. Joker also hates the rich, and hates the cities arrogant vanity and obsession with futuristic development, but the city never listens. Joker does not see Death as the end, but Batman (God) does, and with the twisted non-morality of the Bible God, rather than God putting Joker out of his misery, Batman just puts him in a cage instead of killing or healing him.

The Real "Devil" - Scientists say the Earth is a late bloomer, and most of the life capable planets were created 4.5 billion years ago. This would mean that advanced alien races had a 4.5 billion year head start on humans. And what better way to hide than in plain sight? In spirit form, they could watch and interact with us, while conveniently never being able to be placed under the microscope, as if they don't exist. If God represents "The All" reality and existence itself, then it is possible that one of these ancients got tired and bored of Life itself, and wishes to find a way to remove "The All."
