Microsoft basically took over the operating market being one of the first to provide a viable alternative to dos which was somewhat hard to operate and esoteric. But now it is untouchable and basically Monopolies are bad for the customers, bad for business, bad all round. I wont go into some of the practices Microsoft have used yo gain a 95% share of the market. I am sure you know only to well...

So to the point Bill gates et al must be smart people after all you don't own the most finanicially successful company on Earth by blind luck, But I'd like to ask him why Windows has usually invariably been sub par as an operating system ,why he even tried to buy Apple out to have 100% share, when he must know that by stifling all competition all he has done is make the computer industry stagnant, his OS basically terrible and at times laughable: now the man has a monopoly and he probably has done that through ruthless kill or be killed tactics some legal some not. End of the day if you are limiting competition, you are limiting innovation, business evolution and more importantly you are fucking over the customer for presumably sheer profit. and above all that limiting people to a flaky piece of crap at best. Guy has 8 quadrillion dollars or some such, how stupid do you have to be to keep beating a dead horse.

I am well aware from his sky palace Bill gates probably doesn't give a shit. But some of us would like not to die because Vista was a half assed poorly beta tested bag of shit.

It's not bad practice to place limitations on capitalism when it obviously loses you the holy dollar in the long run.

Apparently Bill Gates is Asperger's I can really see that, he probably really doesn't fathom how bad the market is on OS, and probably doesn't give a shit either.

My big problem with Bill Gates and Microsoft is their utter lack of concern for users of their systems. They write progranms for the benefit of their programmers and don't care one whit if anyone can uuse them or not. It's like they're trying to turn the human species into computers or force them all to think like programmers.

I don't know how intentional this really is or if Gates is really the world's biggest nerd who has surrounded himself with only nerds. But he has done the world a disservice and especially large percentages of his customers.

Well that no sequitur was interesting. But that's not what I meant.

I think the real damage is Microsoft have now defined what the web is and should be, it's not so much a medium for exchanging ideas, but a medium for some tit to promote his shitty little ads and spam till the cows come home. I mean look at Windows 8, it's just a self serving piece of advertising presumably in homage to the biggest tit on Earth.

It wasn't created for the programmers or it would be a confusing non-piece-of-shit. No, it was created for their business interests, making it confusing and frankly counter-productive to any possible good for humanity. They gained a critical mass of market share back when All operating systems sucked and theirs sucked slightly less. Then they used that market share to monopolize, as all businesses do, and maintained it by regulatory capture, monopolistic practices, and fraud. We must bear in mind also that the company formerly known as Microsoft was in every meaningful way different than the company that is now known as Microsoft.

Incidentally, have you noticed than many of the promises made for Windows '95 still don't work?
