There seems to be something called consciousness that seems to be happening to something called me.

How we interpret that interrelationship is what I call REAL philosophy.
General Philosophical Discussion doesn't HAVE to be about consciousness; about psychology, but I believe REAL philosophy is just that.

Interesting post Bill. Perhaps this is all about distinctions between different states of mind. In a binary system the distinction would be the difference between a 0 and a 1, or the difference between on and off.
It is how we interpret the information that seems to make all the difference. In theory a computer, a lobster and a person would interpret exactly the same information in different ways. For example, light detected at a particular wave length. The interesting thing about humans is that the same information can be interpreted differently depending on the individual. When it comes to a computers and lobsters we tend to have a good chance of predicting their outcomes. Humans not so much.

How can this be happening to us?
...and why?
