Greetings to everyone!

I once earned myself a BA in philosophy and was particularly interested in epistemology. Hume and Berkeley were my favourites back in those days. These days I am mostly interested in linguistics and I'm studying an MA in a related field, so my main philosophical interests are Austin, Searle, Grice and Wittgenstein.

I'm originally from England but now live in Japan.

That'll do for now. :D

In your case it's not, Greetings to everyone!, it's Patting myself on the back!

You wasted your education.

That'll do for now. :D

...oh yeah, welcome to the forum.
Please don't ever stop back.

Hello angrysoba, some of the people you will meet here are mental.

That'll do for now. :D

Nothing like making a new forum member welcome. Is it?

Welcome angrysoba. I daren't ask what the "sob" in your username stands for. I hope you enjoy the forum.

This forum is a home where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play. (At least, that is one possible explanation for the amount of "droppings" you can find here). I wouldn't say that "never is heard a discouraging word", but you can sometimes hear encouraging ones as well. :D

Nor, I think would the song. As I remember it's "seldom is heard a discouraging word" and even that's stretching it.

Yes, yes, it's a bit rich for me to complain!

Hi everyone again.

Well, of course it is. I am a solipsist, you see, so it really is all about me...me...me!

Are you not a solipsist too?
Bill Willtrack wrote:In your case it's not, Greetings to everyone!, it's Patting myself on the back!
The two are not mutually exclusive, are they?
Bill Willtrack wrote:You wasted your education.
Presumably you mean that I have an enviable level of education which I have yet to put to good use. Hmmm...I cannot deny it. Please direct me to the self-help boards. I would find my own way, of course, if I weren't so damnably helpless, and if I wasn't I probably wouldn't need the self-help. Oh the paradoxes of life!

Thank you! Much appreciated.

S.O.B are the first three letters of "soba", a particular kind of noodle from Japan. You can of course ask, but I am not entirely sure what the answer is.

I'm looking forward to the robust banter that we philosophers are famous for.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a back to pat...

Thanks. And don't worry, I have a pretty thick skin.

I like the way you turn a phrase.

Well done.

No one else is important...

Except maybe Davidson?
