I think this article reinforces my thinking that to a significant extent we do live in a superficial world. There is a phoniness about it and our personal interactions. Do we really care about things? Most times we just pretend and force ourselves to be nice and do the right thing because it makes us look better. It's more profitable to pretend.
I am thinking that our superficiality is generally a good thing. It's a conduit behaviour, like vagueness is. It helps facilitate relationships.
Bullshit is similar.
