Why the Government Should Not Own or Operate Anything

The U.S. Postal Service lost $16 billion last year. A private company would be forced to cease operations and file for bankruptcy, punishing its stockholders, but the government just keeps on operating, punishing its taxpayers.

The US Postal Service is a self-supporting federal agency that moves more than more than 212 billion letters, cards, ads, bills, payments and packages every year, and lost $16 billion dollars last year doing it. A private company could close any post office it wants, deliver mail whenever it chooses and charge whatever postage it wants. Don't come up with that private company crap!

Wouldn't be much of a government if it didn't own or operate anything ^^

Again, you don't understand that the only proper function of government is social integration, like a traffic cop keeping people from running over each other. Government should not own, operate, support or promote anything. Government shouldn't even have a damn payroll. All government workers should be hired and paid by a private company or companies appointed for this purpose (and please don't ask me who is going to appoint this company or companies because there are a multitude number of ways this can be accomplished, and I don't care to get into a big discussion over it). And to make matters even worse, the U.S. Postal Service is staffed by feather-bedding union workers you can't fire!
