can anyone recommend a some good materials for introducing the bible to children
i browsed through a local bible shop and the bibles for children they have totally suck ass
the language is horrible - in the 'badly written books for children' horrible sense, and i nearly peed myself laughing when one of the examples they have of 'honoring your parents' is going to bed when you are told
sorry, children getting plenty of sleep is all good but i just dont see god giving a shit about that
would appreciate any suggestions
my great aunt and uncle, coming from the german calvinist tradition, are in favor of just reading the actual bible to children - although they favor teaching the children german or dutch first because those are the best languages for expressing the word of God

Start at the start (Genesis). They will need some resources from YEC biologists for a brief hit of truth before they spend the next 10+ years getting indoctrinated in the school system.

The only book you need, my friend, is the KJV book of Revelation.

It's a metaphysical ontologist. If that's any help.

i have somehow been talked into teaching sunday school at a church that until recently had an aging, shrinking population and very recently had an infusion of younger people and children - so there has been no sunday school there for a while
part of the problem is that the church is question holds doctrines that are somewhat at odds with the mainstream by its universalist doctrine - so I have no use for the fire and brimstone stuff

I'm an Atheist but really enjoyed the original ,Jesus Christ Superstar ,
my daughter and I watched it many times , I never pushed my Atheism on my daughter ,
she's now a medium and as she puts it , talks to the dead ,
thats her mothers doing , while I was doing the right thing and not corrupting my daughters mind ,
her mother was happy to tell her the house was haunted when she was just a child ,
so that would be my advice ,
don't tell her what to believe , just be honest about the possibilities ,probabilities ,
the earth is probably 4.5 billion years old , man is about 4 million years old ,
we definately evolved from monkey , neandertol , there is no missing link ,
and there is an extremely remote possibility that a fantasy called religion is real ,,,!!!

See this is where your own intelligence appears as some remnant of your fantasy.
Religion IS real...the thing you think is fantasy is GOD. Get your own logic right...pleeeeeaaaasse.

Well, if you are going to indoctrinate them then I guess only read them or let them read the NT, as this is Christianity.

They need to be taught how the most influential person in the history of mankind after Jesus Christ Charles Darwin influenced mankinds every area of thought and in most indoctrinated peoples minds has relegated the old testament to a myth. Then present the origin of the universe (YEC), how God created man in his image, how there was created KINDS of animals, why we have a 7 day week, where marriage came form, where death and sin came from (fall of man), the lie started by the serpent in the garden of Eden (evolutionism) and how to tell if someone is under the spell of the greatest mass delusion in the history of mankind ( evolutionists).

what is the difference, if any, between indoctrination, and being taught views you do not support?

Ok religion is a real fantasy about a non existent being ,,??
is that better , so give me your possible vrs probable ,
is god possible probable , impossible ,,???
the point I was making is the idea that there is a god cannot be seen as the most probable ,
and yet it is seen as credible ,??
if the author of this thread wants to do the right thing by her child ,
then the most probable would surely be the most honest ,
to present the unlikely improbable idea of a god as if it were real ,
is a lie a con a corruption of that mind ,,,!!!
