Hello All.
I am, as you may have guessed from my nick, a functional alcoholic. I just had a glass of vodka - the pathetic 30 ml shot glosses so popular on this continent are laughable.
My interest in philosophy has mostly to do with math and logic, and I have little patience for hideously verbose, nigh-unreadable stuff like Kant or Heidegger, or any of the 20th century French philosophers who write nonsense, but con a lot of people into believing they are being profound.
I teach high school math in the American Bible Belt. I am fortunate enough to teach in well-funded school in a well-to-do community where much of the population belong to the 1%. The brats come with an unjustified sense of entitlement and importance, but at least they are not the psychotic monsters of this country's inner city schools. As much as I am not crazy about the 1%, the 99% are even worse.
Another interest of mine has to do with "Just War Theory", although I hate the word "theory" as it is applied to philosophical ideas. Unlike so many people who like to talk about morality of war, I have first hand experience with it, having fought in the Soviet military in Afghanistan, and having later served in the IDF (Israeli Defense Force).
