Philosophy is a large field that holds all kinds of opinions and beliefs. And some of those opinions and beliefs may even be true, although, I'm not entirely sure which ones.
Yeah, unfortunately currently it is being overrun by those of shallow of thought (not all, but most Americans here) where others have cried oceans where the depths of within those fathoms knowledge has been gleaned but is being usurped with willful rejection of the love of wisdom by a boring propensity to talk about politics.

Philosophy is nothing but idle talk of the leisured classes unless philosophy results in progressive thought then action. Progress is measured by reason and personal disinterest.

I do.
Again, I must respectfully disagree. As I said:

Both you and Walker have cited references to a study that allegedly shows how some sizeable number of people, with no access to Fox et al, would have changed the outcome of the election. Your case would be much stronger, if you could show the results of the study in question.

With about 2 weeks left in office, Trump may be facing another impeachment attempt proposed by Democrats.

It sort of seems like a mistake to me. He only has just under 2 weeks left in office and this is just going to infuriate Trump's supporters that much more, feeding into their beliefs about "the swamp" and whatnot--probably with more riots and violence--as well as strengthen his cause among various people in this country. It'll just make a martyr out of him to his followers. Why not just let him go for the two weeks? He'll be out soon enough.

What have you seen among the writigns of Mannie, Walker, Henry, Nick and Impenitent in the last couple of months to suggest his followers don't already see him as a martyr?

If they impeach and remove him, he will surely get a presidential pardon, but he will lose the ability to sell those same pardons. He will lose the ability to launch a last minute air strike against Iran.

The National Guard was prevented from leaving Maryland to support the capitol police the other day. It seems those orders came down the command chain that Trump had changed in the last month or so to replace military folks with his own loyalists.

Trump is a drug addicted narcissist suddenly facing a dramatic and public loss of status, that is the sort of person who is liable to behave recklessly. He has many powers that could result in worrying outcomes should the mood take him.

as I understand it: if they impeach and convict him, he can't run for public office again

if this is the case: a conviction now, prevents his run in '24

but, I might be wrong...I'm rememberin' sumthin' I read, and my memory ain't the best

High-ranking Republicans and cabinet members are publicly acknowledging that Trump is a danger. They are up close, and seeing it for themselves -- whereas Trump supporters are rabid with delusions that can only be dispelled by the liar they support and follow. Is it best to avoid doing the right thing for everyone in order to cater to such supporters? Are we to be directed/defined by the volatility of lies and stupidity expressed as rage?

High-ranking Republicans and cabinet members now publicly acknowledge that Trump is a danger. They are up close, and see it for themselves -- whereas Trump supporters are rabid with delusions that can only be dispelled by the liar they mindlessly follow. These mobs can come back again and vote for Trump in the next election.

Germany was a civilised country until Hitler. People could not believe that Germany could become so chaotic. It takes one dictator unhinged or not to channel discontent into extreme nationalism.

Yeah. That's a good point also. Maybe Pelosi and the Democrats are right on this. Just tired of hearing about the "swamp" and all this conspiracy stuff. But I guess his supporters are going to say that whether he is impeached or not impeached. Sigh. What can you do?

Yeah. Good point. Presidential powers have gotten pretty scary in the past decades, being able to essentially declare war without congressional approval. I hope they review all this in lieu of what can happen if a future president comes unhinged or acts as a rogue leader. Otherwise, we all pay for it.

Outside of what actually did stop Hitler, I don't know.
