True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing.
For the discussion of all things philosophical.

"...only deliver the emotions..." what do you mean only? I do not chose to be hungry for water, sex, food, and other addictions. I do not chose to have needs for entertainment. My subconscious makes me love and hate.Dontaskme wrote:Your subconscious is the work desk of your mind. Controlling and directing it is the key to personal change.
People often erroneously think that the subconscious is in charge and you are merely at its mercy. In fact it’s the complete opposite. Your conscious mind gives it the direction, the environment if you like, for which it operates in. The subconscious will only deliver the emotions and feelings of what you continuously think about.

And with that you disappear into your own logical contradiction.Dontaskme wrote:Nope, you have never chosen to do anything in your life, because there is no you to have a life. There is only consciousness, choosing is done subconsciously or unconsciously. The conscious self is superimposed illusory ego. Consciousness is one without a second, consciousness is real.Hobbes' Choice wrote:I do not chose to be hungry for water, sex, food, and other addictions. There is no "only" about it. We are driven by our passions, without which we would not bother to live at all.
You as you believe yourself to be has never lived. Only the idea of you lives. No one is conscious.
There can be no consciousness without a self, just as there can be no light without a lamp... superimposed upon the self is ego but you are beyond the distinction of ego.

Not exactly a scientific journal and I have to say the phrase "brain capacity" is not really a natural category; more like a guesstimate of a socially constructed bit of flim-flam.Dontaskme wrote:You will find the answers to your question here....Hobbes' Choice wrote:What is it exactly that the numbers of supposed to mean?Dontaskme wrote:

So since you point it out to others, this would seem to suggest that you don't think others know. This is how you set Bill apart from others.Dontaskme wrote:Like I said Bill knows he is projecting. I don't need to point that out to him.
What makes you think we haven't? Is this based on some moment in time that you happen to come upon? As you've pointed out, things are not always what they seem. Bill is very much involved in this creation. He is not a victim. And he remains here... creating it.Dontaskme wrote:Good for you, then you too, and others should afford empathy toward Bill as well.
Here's an example from just the last few days...Dontaskme wrote:I haven't seen that characteristic quality in BillLacewing wrote:Bill often speaks of what he knows that other people don't...
I asked him for clarification and what makes him so sure. But, no response... because Bill can't back up these statements. They are clearly faulty. So I'm curious... why is he making them, if not to set himself apart? Isn't that interesting to consider?Bill Wiltrack wrote: I realize that no one here has experienced it.
Are you aware of all the posts where he has ranted on and on about all the dark and ugliness in people... and then refuted or ignored any responses that point out that light and beauty exist TOO?Dontaskme wrote:As for failing to recognise the beauty and awareness in OTHERS. He doesn't do that.
Why are you saying this?Dontaskme wrote:You fail to recognise that [the beauty and awareness in OTHERS], and that's your problem.
Dontaskme wrote:...don't be jealous / ...you sound very insecure by my new association with Bill, for gods sake grow up.
Yes.Dontaskme wrote:Lacewing, to be honest, I'm increasingly becoming at a complete loss as to what it is we are arguing about now. Can we just stop and move on.
Agreed.Dontaskme wrote: Cool!
All water under the bridge then, fresh clean slate okay... everything is love. Love is one. We're all in this together.![]()
Sorry if I've been harsh... it's just what's comes out in the heat of the moment, no harm ever meant, none of it really matters. We all go down with the sinking ship. The captain, crew, and passengers alike...lets be understanding of each others uniqueness. We all know the meaning of opposites, yes there is dark, and yes there is light, they are each other the same one consciousness expressing itself.
You've been consistent in that you've maintained your extreme form of dualism from the outset and you've also been consistent in that you've resolutely declined to advance an argument in favour of it. Preachers are ten a penny but philosophers are few so the fact that you've found a kindred spirit in Bill is unsurprising. However in all likelihood you'd grow out of your certainties if you took the trouble to acquaint yourself with the vast compendium of literature available which examines the myth of the Cartesian theatre you're expounding.Dontaskme wrote:I've been consistent from the start
