That song really does jam but not becuz it jams. Becuz of when it came into existence. If a song like this is heard at a certain critical age, and comes out of a relatively benign period of commercial music, it makes an impression that will forever create extraordinary nostalgia for the ears that hear it. Caribbean Queen is another one.

Yo check this out too holy shit I forgot about this. I actually had some kind of minor disorder in my pre-teens that made me want to rock back and forth while laying on my side to any music i wuz hearing. Had a step sister who did it too. It's some kind of condition I think I recall reading about it. But I would also rock and bounce in the car to any music that played. Not obnoxiously like a we todd... just slightly... like on some autistic mozart shit. and i wuz constantly reprimanded for beating on the car seats or anything else that had a percussive sound. Again not obnoxiously so but certainly obsessively so. Bro I had rhythm runnin all through me and when that new eighties sound came out and it wuz no more of the old man's eight track cassette tapes of John Denver, i wuz transformed into a musician.

now this song... this song carries with it the entire feeling of my summer in San Jose as a twelve year old.

if and when i ever hear it, i immediately freeze, become incommunicable and lose myself in reverie. sometimes even my eyes roll back in my head and I start to vibrate as if time travelling.

The whole song is about that change at 3:23. those chords goodsall is playing I dunno wtf they are but that's some evil shit. still the signature sound of that band - the one most recognizable feature - is Percy's fretless bass playing style. he gets these strange in-between sounding tones on that thing man. And he's notorious for 'chatting'. Little sharp muted notes and shit.
