What is it you do to earn a living bob?

Well, why don't you sign up for Uber, then? Nothing's stopping you.bobevenson wrote:Wait a minute, in my little scenario, I'm helping people by giving them transportation they might not be able to afford, people who are more than willing to ride in my beat-up old jalopy at a barain price. Where is this societal chaos you're talking about, huh? Oh, I know, it's the government and their crony capitalist taxi companies that are going nuts!Dalek Prime wrote:Oh, is that the definition of dictatorship, that you can't just do anything you please. You support societal chaos, and can't even see that, Bob.
Are you suggesting that your right to do as you please supersedes the rights of everybody else in the community? What about my right not to have my life endangered on a public highway by some bloke doing as he pleases?bobevenson wrote:For example, I believe if you suddenly want to become a taxi driver, you should be able to immediately start picking up fares, charging whatever you want, having no license to operate a taxi, driving a car on its last legs, and having no liability insurance. Which part don't you understand of what is being described by a 'mandatory recall notice'? Let me help you, the mandatory applies to the recall notice and is designed to make the issued notice stand-out from other junk mail. It is not that the recall has been governmentally mandated. The internet is a powerful tool but not for loons who just goggle and cut/paste without reading.bobevenson wrote:The following is from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission:
"Guidelines and Requirements for Mandatory Recall Notices
This rule contains CPSC’s interpretation of the information that must appear on mandatory recall notices as well as guidelines for additional information that CPSC or a court can order to be included in these notices."
What part of the word "mandatory" don't you understand?
No, I just want to start picking up fares, but the government won't let me do it, and you're not coming to my defense, ergo, back to the title of this thread.Dalek Prime wrote:Well, why don't you sign up for Uber, then? Wait a minute, I'm legally driving my car, and I just want to pick up fares and earn a few bucks. What's wrong with that?Obvious Leo wrote:Are you suggesting that your right to do as you please supersedes the rights of everybody else in the community? Please explain to me why wanting to pick up fares in my car makes me a lawless moron. I'm not breaking any laws, I'm just saying there should not be laws to prevent me from doing it. And as far as being a moron, I believe you qualify for not being able to understanding this.Dalek Prime wrote:Leo. According to Bob, protecting you from lawless morons is the definition of the nanny state, and he's against that.
For example, I believe if if you want to suddenly want to become a primary care physician, you should be able to immediately start acquiring patients, charging whatever you want, having no license and no liability insurance.bobevenson wrote:For example, I believe if you suddenly want to become a taxi driver, you should be able to immediately start picking up fares, charging whatever you want, having no license to operate a taxi, driving a car on its last legs, and having no liability insurance. There should be no problem with you doing that unless you commit fraud or harm patients. The late and great Nobel economist Milton Friedman was against physicians even being licensed.Ginkgo wrote:For example, I believe if if you want to suddenly want to become a primary care physician, you should be able to immediately start acquiring patients, charging whatever you want, having no license and no liability insurance.bobevenson wrote:For example, I believe if you suddenly want to become a taxi driver, you should be able to immediately start picking up fares, charging whatever you want, having no license to operate a taxi, driving a car on its last legs, and having no liability insurance. Quit playing the fool. Sharia law promotes intolerance, which you should be painfully aware of since the news media keeps beating you over the head with it!Dalek Prime wrote:In a Muslim society, yes, I do. Just as learning American ways helps a Muslim, or anyone else, fit into US society. That's a big 'duh', Bob.
