The Vietnamese did not threaten me in any way except for small arms fire and pressure-release land mines. I didn’t go there to kill a commie for Christ. Everyone I met there had just one goal: to go home alive and whole. No one agreed with the politics, but they were afraid not to obey the law/draft. I went there because my resistance would not stop the war and it could result in some one being harmed in place of me. I conscientiously objected to that and all wars.
