the reason i liked the peter garrett version is that something different was done with the 'zoological fantasy'. this version wasn't done for entertainment. its hard to explain here, and there are no videos to share.
but here are a just a few words from some of the talking parts:

where trees once used to grow
and animals of many kinds
have sat in every row where you are sitting now

cuz your sitting on their ghosts

let us consider and reflect, since the time of San Saiens, the effect upon the creatures and their land,
triumphant humanity, having grown so grand, never so powerful, so free, nature and its beloved souls are no longer what they used to be
surrounded, outnumbered
and bewildered by the crimes, that make the animals, the persecuted saints and outcasts of our time
yet, in their grace, their still here, with sacred things to teach us, they can reach us in our inner space, if we will let them
we must not forget them, like this music, to our ear,
they are still here'
