I'd wish you luck in your quest to become "self-aware," but I'm not sure if your achieving "self-awareness" is going to be good for anyone else around you or not. If you are somehow an exemplary human being that others should emulate, then I fear for humanity.

Making a habit of expressing gratitude will force him to seek gratitude to express, and eventually that seeps into the bones.

I don't think he's being dishonest. I'm sure he has psychological and emotional trauma of some kind. But he also is enjoying his own misery way too much. Some people enjoy being the victim, because it absolves them of all responsibility to examine themselves and their own choices. Some like it because they think it draws attention and sympathy, or gives them significance in a life that they fear others would disregard but for their suffering. Some do it as a shield against the knowledge of God, so as to be able to say, "I won't believe in a God who allows this". There are various reasons, and I can't judge Gary's case. It might even be a mix, for all I know.

What's clear is he's unhappy in a certain kind of way, and unwilling to surrender even the least part of his misery. And that's too bad: only Gary will pay the price for that hobby. And I wouldn't wish it on him.

Yes. It's true, IC does seem to be good at ignoring Trump's behavior. I guess that puts him on your "A" list. Nothing I can do if you don't want to listen to people who are opposed to International terrorism, I guess. Perhaps you'll win, and Vance will become President and pick up where Trump left off. Nothing I can do about that either if it happens, except move to a country that is opposed to International terrorism. But maybe if I move to another country, it'll make my fellow Americans happy. Of course, I'll try to find a country to move to that the US won't terrorize.
