can someone give me a rundown as a native? (i am not european)

i'm tempted to google it but i expect i might have to wade through some PC crap to get at the real story...wikipedia itself has a strong liberal and incidentally pro-eu bias

or is there just one set of accepted facts regarding why or how it emerged? it is similar to the united nations after ww1?
as in ignorant American, i think the EU formed in the 1950's - via Luxemburg, Germany, France and Italy as an economic zone. over decades it included more Nations. England voted via a Reforendum in 71? 72? to join.

later the EU transformed from a purely economic unity to a political one too.

England never liked that transformation, and so now we have Brexit, the other 27 see their interests more in line with staying/joining the EU - politically and economically.

Veggie,

My ancestors are from Wyakickamoocow in Nisland. One was a big, fat wahini that used to ride with the Mongrol Mob. She used to shear her fush and chups with me until she fell uff her Harley. Then I was beached, bro!
