So says you. There are small matters of recources and infrastructure to consider. What looks good to you on paper is fraught with logistical and practical problems. There are an awful lot of 'artifical' concepts humans have come up with in order to be able to live reasonably safely with one another. And there's a world of difference between liking the home that you have a historic and emotional connection with and people of similar mind-set and values, and mindless, moronic Nationalism. I'm quite awake thanks.

The EU regulatory authority was absurd. They ordered Italian wine makers to rip out vines because they felt there were too many.

I don't think that Britain will leave the EU. It's too dangerous and costly for everybody.

Technically still possible by highly improbable in spite of Parliament having the last word on a referendum which was never drafted as legally binding to begin with. It's also improbable that Parliament will rule against the "will of the people" based on the number of YES vote over the NO vote. Not least, the EU now wants the Brits out ASAP as if to say 'If you want to leave make it quick and don't tally. There's no hint from the EU that they're still amenable to negotiations...but nothing is absolutely certain until the UK invokes Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.

Does this planet belong to all of us or not? Does it seem unnatural that we should be forced to stay in one place? I think so.

For a long while, my country would not allow me to travel to Cuba. What an odd idea...that someone can restrict my movement as if I were a caged animal.

I am well aware of limitations, I am just not willing to participate in my own oppression with an obedient smile. Esp. when it directly harms others.

What is 'natural'? Apparently it's natural to be the way we are. And visiting a country is a bit different from living in one. I wasn't aware that your country forbade you from visiting Cuba. I thought it was the 'land of the free'.
ps. Why the fuck can't US citizens travel to Cuba?

Very unlikely as the consequences for any party to renege on the result would be catastrophic for them.

For the same reasons you don't want people coming into your country...control. Everyone just wants to control.

Land of the free in theory only...

The only thing we can do is own guns. Did you know I live in NV where it is legal to gamble but I am not allowed to gamble real money online in full tilt...I can only play online with one of the local casinos. To me that is bullshit...I would like to play with people around the world...but I am not free. Did you also know that only 2 states allow the sale of marijuana? My state is not one of them...I am not free.

And neither are you. Don't you find that odd? Abstractly speaking that is...

It's ridiculous. the EU is more of an encumbrance than a boon.

It's not the same reason at all, and I asked a simple question. I'm sure the US Govt. gives a better reason than that. Perhaps it's because it wants to be able to torture people in complete privacy. I didn't mention the word 'free', it's only Americans who obsess over the word without knowing what it means. It seems to me they are very picky about what they regard as their 'freedoms'. The US doesn't even rank that highly on the 'freedom' scale. I was watching a documentary last night on the KKK, and this creep was allowed to rave on about 'them niggers this, them niggers that' and call Obama a 'half-breed n*****' and write an obscene, violence-inciting 'poem' about him, because apparently he's protected by the 'freedom' you have over there via the Constitution. The whole country is fucked-in-the-'head'. I don't know why the useless person making the documentary didn't ask the morons where exactly they expect the 'niggers', who are apparently trying to 'destroy the white race', are supposed to go, or point out that they were forced there against their will as part of the slave trade. It seems to me that black Americans are paragons of restraint when you think about what they have to put up with.
You also still have slavery via your obscenely high prison population. I can't say that not being able to lose all my money online is a big concern to me.
When you want to be part of a society and enjoy its priviledges, there are certain obligations and loss of 'freedoms' that go with it. It's how society works. You can only have 'freedom' up to a point in human society. The only way you could have complete freedom is to be totally self-sufficient, out in the woods somewhere. But a person who does that had better stay in peak health, because there will be no ambulances to come and take them to hospital, no modern medicines, no pain killers, no vaccines etc. etc.

I never thought of wanting to be 'free' as an obsession...how odd.

The cuba thing was way before gitmo...look it up.

I think you have grown accustom to your government telling you just how much freedom you should have. In my mind, freedom only works if it is for all. One can't only want one's own freedom at the exclusion of everyone elses...freedom doesn't work that way. Until people realize this, they will continue to not understand.

What I am hearing from you is the same I hear from republicans in my country. If you were here...you would totally be a republican...you just don't realize it...because you tell yourself what you think is good and you rationalize your behavior as being for 'better' reasons than the others.

The others are more like you than you realize.

"Why the fuck can't US citizens travel to Cuba?"

In short: Cuba was embargoed, and it was embargoed cuz it was a commie haven with close ties to the USSR.

Currently: the embargo has been relaxed, or mebbe even eliminated, so Americans can travel there...I think that's current state of things...not payin' too much attention to Castro or other commie pissants.

'Commie pissant'. I'm always impressed by the depth of your thinking.
