the reason why Auger's is way better than McLaughlin's is becuz of McLaughlin's band on that album. this wuz before mahavishnu and this band can't jam like mahavishnu. i mean the album is solid but it's not a fraction of what McLaughlin is capable of with a drummer like Billy Cobham instead of Buddy Miles, for instance. psychedelic pseudo-fusion rock becomes pure jazz fusion when McLaughlin gets his shit together and forms mahavishunu orchestra.
