I don't know all the details, but I don't think the whole country was involved.Skepdick wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 11:32 amDidn't your country do the mandatory medication thing to Alan Turing?FlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 11:19 am You should be disarmed at a minimum, and probably medicated.
WE NEED MORE GUNS..

Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
Nah, the transition towards tolerance is fairly straight forward if you approach the subject-matter with curiosity instead of prejudice.
I guess if you've never had direct experience with guns you simply can't make up your own mind - you'll believe whatever your tribe believes.
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
If you are suggesting that we should ween ourselves onto guns out of curiosity, then you truly are the idiot I've come to think of you as.

Thank you.
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
Hardly. What I am suggesting is that you make an informed choice. Then choose the better option as indicated by the facts.Harbal wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 11:42 amIf you are suggesting that we should ween ourselves onto guns out of curiosity, then you truly are the idiot I've come to think of you as.
That means you actually have to inform yourself about the alternative option. Even, and perhaps especially, if it gravely offends your prejudices.
Then again you seem gravely prejudiced against your prejudices being challenged.
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
But my point is, your guns are going to give you a sense of temporal safety only when bad things are not happening. Whereas when bad things are happening, the sense of safety will switch to a temporal 'less safe' condition which cancels out any notion that you are ever really safe at all. It's no good just saying I'm only safe some of the time...because there are also times I'll be 'less safe'Skepdick wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 11:28 amQue? You don't even understand what you are asking.
Safety is a property of the system under observation.
A system is said to be "more safe" if bad things happen less frequently than before.
A system is said to be "less safe" if bad things happen more frequently than before.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_an ... properties
So there's always going to be a time in your life when you are not safe...meaning, no one is ever completely and absolutely safe all the time, and is why in my logic, guns are useless at making your life safe.
And that point seems to go right over your head.
And do not tell me I do not know what I am asking. When I know very well what I am asking. I'm just actually smarter in logic than you are.
Even if you had to kill someone in self-defence, there will always come a time when you have to do it again and again and again in self-defence. Meaning, not until the last man or woman is standing, probably you by the looks of it, will you ever feel absolutely safe.
That is my point...if you need a gun for self-defence, then you are obviously living in a reality where other people are prone to attack you one way or the other. So again, my point is until we can figure out a way to stop attacking each other, which will probably be never, then the need for self-defence will be ongoing until the last man or woman is standing.
I hope you get my drift.
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
Unless you think for yourself first..and yes, maybe listen to your tribe, but then always make your own mind up about what your tribe is believing.
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
Yep. Don't do that!
See, I have multiple tribes - I was born in a tribe which outlaws guns. I now live in a tribe which permits gun ownership.
Having stepped outside of my tribe I was actually able to make an informed choice
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
I have no idea what you are trying to say now. You talk in cryptic riddles and sound more like Walker everyday.
So speaking of tribes, the only tribe I belong to is me. I think for myself, and I happen to think guns are very stupid objects. And I'd rather be struck by lightening and die than own a gun.
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
Oh OK. So the country you live in and the general attitude shared amongst people who live in your country, and the fact that you've never been allowed to directly experience firearms but you've been told what to think about them has absolutely nothing to do with the opinions you hold about guns.Dontaskme wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 12:22 pm I have no idea what you are trying to say now. Tell us what sort of experience/information you acquired about the alternative view before you made an individual and informed choice?

Animals fight to the death to survive.
So do humans.
The only difference between the animal brain and the human brain, is the human brain got too big, to the point where it was able to destroy itself with it's own man-made weapons.
Isn't that funny.

Well look. Japan started a war against the USA by attacking Pearl HarborDontaskme wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 12:30 pm Animals fight to the death to survive.

Isn't that funny. And what's even funnier, is that animals are not cowards like us, they cannot eliminate their entire kingdom in one single blow, like we can with our nukes.
Just two bombs and Japan changed their mind.
All the logical arguments in the world couldn't do that.

I know about guns from very the onset of my early childhood, around the age of 4/5 actually. My brothers had toy guns, we used to watch films on tv of people shooting each other. We'd imitate them, play cowboys and indians, cops and robbers. I decided there and then, when I was a wee nipper, that I was never going to befriend a gun, ever.
Does that compute with you?
Re: WE NEED MORE GUNS..
So... you have zero actual knowledge about; or experience with actual firearms.Dontaskme wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 12:35 pmGood lord...seriously!Skepdick wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 12:24 pmOh OK. Gotcha.
Those are real strong opinions you hold for an ignoramus.
