I don't know if it makes them any "better" (depending upon what is meant by "better"), however, would you rather people say nothing when they see someone else being treated unjustly? Some people maybe abuse the stance but I think others probably get it right. Like a lot of other things, there's a right way and wrong way of implementing some philosophies or beliefs. Probably a bit of moderation and more consideration is maybe needed in some cases.
